Trigger Point Therapy is a specialized technique for treating myofascial pain and was developed by Janet Travell & David Simons, MDs. Combined with deep tissue pressure and other neuromuscular techniques, it is a proven method of relieving pain issues related to muscular anatomy. Physicians can prescribe manual therapy techniques as Trigger Point Therapy for treating pain, tightness, decreased movement, headaches, and spasm related to acute injuries or chronic pain that may be associated with stress, work related injuries or auto accidents. It is also used to treat TM Disorder an affliction to the temporomandibular joint that is treated intra-orally. Neuromuscular Therapy is recommended before physical therapy to facilitate a pain free program of strengthening and ROM exercises for the patient and enhance the recovery rate. It has been documented that Neuromuscular Therapy is beneficial for the treatment of injuries and is being added as a complementary treatment to traditional medicine at many clinics today.
